It’s been over a month since the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer came out, and there have been various fan theories and guesses since then. Now, one deeply researched fan speculation has come up which might be among the most fascinating of them all.

Imgur user jester651 managed to pinpoint the location of the air-borne space ring seen in the trailer. He did it courtesy the Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) scene which showed some precise land features in the background.

As revealed by them, Peter Parker’s school bus crosses the Queensboro Bridge on its way to Queens from Manhattan. When he turns around, he saw the ring suspended in air over Greenwich Village. Another visual from the trailer showed the ring from close quarters, and it further helps zero in on the exact location. It is above the intersection of West 4th Street and West 10th Street.

As pointed out by jester 651, the location hints at some appealing aspects from the Infinity War trailer. It clarifies that when Tony Stark/Iron-Man (Robert Downey Jr.) took off his glasses, he wasn’t really looking at the ring. Taking into account the location of Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, 177A, Bleecker Street, and even though, Tony, Bruce, Dr. Strange and Wong are outside it; it appears as if Tony was looking in the direction opposite to the ring.

Connect that to another visual from the trailer which showed Tony open the doors of the Sanctum Sanctorum, and it all gets weirder. It showed the civilians run towards the ring, rather than away from it. This is a clear sign that something dangerous was on that side, either another ring or something totally different.

At the moment, it is impossible to say what all that could mean as far as the overall narrative of Infinity War is concerned, it certainly makes things interesting and gives a new dimension to the trailer.

Avengers: Infinity War will release in theaters on May 4, 2018.

Apart from the Infinity War, MCU’s other upcoming releases are: Black Panther on February 16, 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
