The Empire Strikes Back gave audiences a big surprise in cinema history with the reveal of Darth Vader as Luke Skywalker’s father. Return of the Jedi added that Princess Leia was Luke’s sister. Yoda was not surprised as an excerpt from an upcoming Star Wars book reveals that Yoda not only knew about Leia but thought that she was the chosen one who would bring balance to the Force.
The upcoming book, Star Wars: From A Certain Point of View, explores 40 unknown stories that fill gaps in the mythos. In a story, “There is Another,” readers learned more about Yoda with the story detailing Obi-Wan’s visiting the Jedi master on Dagobah.
The story features a connection to The Phantom Menace, and that Yoda has been using Qui-Gon Jinn’s cloak as a blanket after Jedi was killed by Darth Maul. A tragic element of the story is that Yoda reveals to Obi-Wan that he is ready to cross to another realm.
This revelation brings very interesting questions with the biggest that Leia is the Chosen One.
Before Luke met Obi-Wan, Leia had been active in the Rebellion, which may have been the reason that Yoda connected with her presence strongly.
In Return of the Jedi, Luke does not bring balance to the Force as Anakin intervenes to kill Emperor while Luke stands by.
Going into The Last Jedi, Luke is on the remote Ahch-To, and claims that the Jedi “must end.”
Audiences will next see Leia in The Last Jedi, hitting theaters December 15.
