Right from the time, the announcement about a Han Solo spin-off was made, audiences knew it would feature his adventures before he met Luke, Leia, and the Rebel Alliance. Now Del Rey Books has released a new infographic which gives further details about the upcoming movie Solo: A Star Wars Story’s timeline, and placing the movie’s events about 11-14 years prior to the events of the original Star Wars film.

On Del Rey’s website, an interactive timeline of the Star Wars universe can be explored. The movie’s events are based on the novel Tarkin, but, before the novel Thrawn, both of which depict fixed time points. Since Solo is based between these two novels, we can narrow down the gap, taking into account the time after this movie and before A New Hope, and leaving scope for a sequel in case Lucasfilm wanted.

Although we have a good idea of how the Solo movie is placed in the larger Star Wars scheme, and the movie will cover various years of the smuggler’s life. Movie’s star Emilia Clarke had revealed some details about the character she is playing and that helped us work out the depiction of Han’s story.

“The point where you meet her, she is with Han. They are both doing what they’ve got to do to survive,” Clarke told Entertainment Weekly. “And that is Qi’ra the whole the movie. The whole way through, she is surviving. And surviving in the underworld that we know to be [filled with] smuggling, aloof gamblers, wrong-side-of-the-tracks nasty ones. It was beautiful they touched on it very briefly [in The Last Jedi] when they are at the racetracks.”

The associated novel, Last Shot will also feature several key moments in Han’s life.

“Part of it takes place before the events of Solo and focuses on Lando and L3-37,” Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain told Entertainment Weekly. “Part of it takes place between Solo and A New Hope, and that focuses on Han and Chewie, and that’s where we get Sana Starros for the first time.”

“Part of it takes place post-Return of the Jedi,” Siglain added, “And that’s where we see Han, Leia, a very young Ben Solo, and Lando come into the story.”

Exact details about the movie’s plot are not revealed yet, but, once the release date comes closer, we will keep finding out more about this much-awaited film.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to release in theaters on May 25th.
