Superhero films are the most dominant genre in the pop culture today, and there is a vast range of much-awaited movies scheduled to release within the next one year. However, Jodie Foster apparently considers them to be a bad influence on the movie world. During a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actress and director was questioned about the prevalent superhero culture of films, and she had nothing bright to say about the genre.
“Going to the movies has become like a theme park,” Foster said. “Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking — you get the best return right now, but you wreck the earth. It’s ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world. I don’t want to make $200 million movies about superheroes.”
In the last one day or so, Foster’s remarks have gone highly viral on the net. While a few people resonate with the crux of Foster’s statement, others feel that she is trying to trivialize the popular genre. Have a look at some of the reactions to her statement.
