The official The X-Files season 11 trailer has been released by FOX, and it shows Mulder and Scully go on a frantic search for their son William who has been missing for a long time. Ever since a scared Scully let William away for adoption in season 9, fans had been speculating about some closure coming to his story and apparently now might be the time that we see it. Even season 10 had a great deal of traces about the comeback of Mulder and Scully’s child. Therefore, Chris Carter and the team have definitely been on this case for some time now.
Although the wait has been much longer than fans would have preferred, we will finally see this much awaited season 11 premiere of X-files in 2018. This season will have ten episodes. As revealed by Carter, 8 of those episodes will be standalone stories, while the other two will take forward the ongoing premise of the series’ mythology. We are likely to see a lot of known faces such as A.D. Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), the mysterious Cigarette-Smoking Man (William B. Davis) as well as Special Agents Miller (Robbie Amell) and Einstein (Lauren Ambrose) who had come onboard in season 10.
Although the trailer doesn’t have any premiere date marked as of now, we do get a great idea of what the season has in store. The photos that were released earlier had shown that Mulder and Scully had swapped places compared to where they were seen in season 10 ending with Scully being in a difficult medical condition. The reason behind the change is not yet known. However, there is a great chance that CSM has a role in it. You can have a look at the complete trailer below.
The intriguing part is that the trailer is ambiguous on whether it will be good or bad if they find William. The trailer is edited in a manner that Scully asking Mulder that they needed to find someone and stop them from unleashing hell on Earth appears to be a reference to William, and if that is the case, then it would give an interesting dimension to the character. It is also possible that Scully might be talking about CSM, who are always bent upon some destructive plan or another.
Another interesting development is the likelihood of Skinner having enticed by the dark side. CSM has offered some sort of deal to Skinner, and later Scully is seen telling him that she and Mulder need his support even when they don’t have faith in him.
Skinner has typically been the only guy that the duo truly trusted among the FBI men and by losing him, they might have lost their entire support system. But, we know Skinner is a clever guy, and he might just have been fooling with CSM to get further details of their plans.
Season 11 of The X-Files will come out on FOX in 2018.
