There are some movie properties that go from popular to legendary. Actor Harrison Ford does happen to be in a plethora of them, as he has had his hands in some franchises that have spawned generations of fans. In addition to his role as Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise, he played the character in Indiana Jones and the replicant in Blade Runner. These movies have shown back up in the years since inception and Ford has now expressed what make the franchises so remarkable.
“[Blade Runner 2049] is an adult adventure; Indiana Jones are family films. and one of the opportunities of my life is that Indiana Jones, Star Wars, stuff like that, gets passed on generationally. And so seeing that — having your father say, ‘Come on, let’s go see this,’ or your mom say… that’s very special. And having new generations come along, and it’s reintroduced again, it’s incredible.”
He has a point as Star Wars, and Indiana Jones started in 70’s and 80′ and are popular in 2017. And for the franchises to live on this, it must be passed down from generations.
Harrison Ford’s comments to Build Series shows how Ford knows the business of film production. And while he is not Star-Wars-obsessed, he seems to appreciate how the iconic roles have transcended time.
Star Wars franchise is beloved by kids today as it was for their grandparents.
The films have aged well, and Lucasfilm has never stopped producing new content for its fanbase. While the prequel trilogy was less than stellar, it got young millennials. The new trilogy is a great continuation of the original and brings back the likes of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
Indiana Jones has lived a long life as well. 4 movies have been released, and a 5th film is being developed by Disney. Steven Spielberg will now helm the adventure and producer Frank Marshall will team up with Kathleen Kennedy and bring the new adventure to life.
The next installment in the Star Wars franchise is Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi, which will arrive in theaters on December 15th, 2017.
