Stars Wars and Marvel fans have been buzzing over the recent comparisons of Mark Hamill and Avengers star, Sebastian Stan. Thanks to a few fan-inspired face-morphs, it is clear that Stan is a good ringer for Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.
Stan had taken a joking approach to this matter and left a video message for his “dad” after stopping by to debut his new Avengers: Infinity War trailer. It was a monologue, and Stan took a comedic angle on the father/son premise. Hamill was more literal in the praise: the actor jokes that Sebastian Stan is way too handsome to be a doppelganger for Hamill, before endorsing an idea of the Stan taking over this role.
The next stage of development for Luke Skywalker is a huge mystery hanging over Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but however it plays out there is a future for this character. As the Star Wars franchise continues to expand into a new cinematic universe, stories about Luke’s journey over the years are still game after he returns to prominence in The Last Jedi. Stan can inhabit the role for a stand-alone movie, a set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens will be interesting.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th.
