Paget was born on March 10, 1969 in Massachusetts, USA to a government official, Hathaway Brewster, and a school administrator, Galen Brewster. Although she was born and brought up in Massachusetts, she moved to New York City to pursue a degree in designing in Parsons School of Design. While she was a first year student, she debuted as an actress and eventually dropped out of design school. Later, she moved to San Francisco and took acting classes.

During the mid-1990s, she starred in a late night talk show called Paget for 65 episodes. She garnered attention for the first time via her role of Kathy in the popular NBC sitcom, FRIENDS. She also starred as Ms. Indestructible in the low-budget superhero comedy named The Specials by James Gunn in 2000.

Apart from that, she appeared in Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Huff, The Big Bad Swim, Harvey Birdman, American Dad!, and Attorney at Law. Brewster’s big break came when she was casted as the multilingual SSA Emily Prentiss in Criminal Minds. She was fired, along with her co-star AJ Cook.

Later, she came back to the show and Brewster revealed that they got fired because the CBS executive wanted to replace them with younger actresses. Paget got engaged to Steve Damstra, a musician, on March 17, 2013 and got married on November 29, 2014. Currently, they reside in Los Angeles, California.
