Mortal Kombat girls are the true gems of the Mortal Kombat Movies and games. They are not only incredibly beautiful, but the ladies have also been equally physically dominant as the male characters. Another reason for Mortal Kombat women being so popular amongst the fans is that they all have in-depth storylines, characters are well written, and most of them play significant roles in moving story arcs ahead. That’s one of the reasons a lot of professional Mortal Kombat players are women. If you are someone like me, who has been a huge fan of this series since his childhood, you got to check the Mortal Kombat Cosplays. These cosplays are usually very high-quality, and a lot of big names in the industry like Jessica Nigri have cosplayed as Mortal Kombat characters. There is already a new Mortal Kombat reboot movie in works right now, and it would be a blast to see these amazing female characters kicking butts! This post is going to be about the top 10 Mortal Kombat women that this enormous gaming franchise has brought to life. These choices are based on my personal opinions so don’t get disappointed if your favorite character is not on the list as you can always share your favorites in the comment section. Alright guys, without any further ado, let’s jump on to our list of top 10 ladies of all time in Mortal Kombat movies and Games:-
10) Sheeva
Since its inception, Mortal Kombat games are known for perfectly balancing the fighting capabilities amongst the genders. That too at a time, when all the games usually made the female characters very feeble as the number of gamer girls were way too little, yep, we are talking about the early 90’s. Goro was a compelling character in the Mortal Kombat game, and to balance him Mortal Kombat gave us this fantastic female character named Sheeva. She is not your typical Ninja looking lady, she is muscular, has a deep echoing voice, and her expressions are Manly. Moreover, her moves were so freaking good that she became a fan favorite in a very short period. Her backstory in Mortal Kombat lore is also gripping; she belongs to the Shokan clan, and characters like Goro, Kintaro, etc. are related to her. She used to be an ally to Shao Kahn, but later they become bitter adversaries. Sheeva also made a cameo appearance in the Mortal Kombat Movie, Annihilation, but that shot was not well received by the fans. To be honest, the whole movie was a mess!Â
9) Sindel
Sindel’s is one of those Mortal Kombat women that were the prey of Shao Kahn’s manipulations and ruthlessness. Shao Kahn was so fond of her that he brought her back from the dead, and made her the Queen of the Nether Realm. Sindel’s crazy love for Shao Kahn and her vicious witch-like appearance bring a very complex yet appealing personality for the players. There is a huge age difference between the other “Young” Mortal Kombat girls and Sindel, but her mature persona and passionate desire to serve her master Shao Kahn regardless of circumstances have always kept the players interested in her story. Her moves and fatalities since her debut in Mortal Kombat 3 have been unique. Sindel played a major in role Mortal Kombat X, the latest instalment in the franchise. She was also the part of Mortal Kombat Movie sequel in which she had a decent screen time, but the character was badly written.
8) Skarlet
Skarlet was first introduced to the world of Mortal Kombat in its ninth instalment, that too in a DLC. However, her impact in the comic books was much more palpable compared to the game. In the game, she is one of the fastest characters with speedy combos that can quickly derail your opponent’s confidence, and her heavy moves are easy to daisy-chain. Her backstory is kind of interesting, she is the last resort weapon of Shao Kahn, and Skarlet thrives on the blood of her opponents. Her lust of blood magic was so strong that Shao Kahn mostly kept her behind bars and used her only during the adverse conditions. She is the only Mortal Kombat girl that has control over the blood magic even though she is not from the Vampire realm like Nitara. Skarlet’s character could be a menacing villain in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie.
7) Nitara
Nitara made her debut in “Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance,” people quickly took a note of her because she is the only Vampire character in the Mortal Kombat saga. Her moves in the game were distinct and formidable. She wasn’t as speedy as compared to other generic Mortal Kombat female characters, but even her basic shots can drain out half of the “life bar” if they are used smartly and timely. Nitara’s backstory involved a mysterious orb, Reptile, and Cyrax. Nitara’s home world, the Vampire realm was submerged with Outworld thousands of years ago which caused constant chaos in her kingdom. She wanted to make her domain independent from the Outworld, and to do that, she had to destroy a mysterious orb that was hidden inside the Volcanic Magma of Outworld. Nitara learned that Cyrax had the ability to get that Orb, so she started to plot a plan against Cyrax with Reptile, who was “master-less” after the demise of Shao Kahn during “Deadly Alliance.” Nitara’s could be a great gray character with shady hidden motivations in the future Mortal Kombat movies.
Great work! I love seeing Tanya get some love. 🙂
