As an actress Ripa’s best known contributions have been as Hayley Vaughan on the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children (1990–2002) and Faith Fairfield on the ABC sitcom Hope & Faith (2003–2006).

Kelly is of a mixed descent. She is three-quarters Italian and one-quarter Irish ancestry. Before entering the acting industry she studied ballet since age three, and played the piano. She enrolled in Camden County College to study Psychology but dropped out and began to pursue acting seriously. Her first moment in the spotlight came with being a regular dancer on Dancin’ On Air, leading into Dance Party USA.

She at that time wanted to be a newscaster and regularly did the cast news reports. In 1990 she began playing her breakthrough role of Hayley Vaughan, a troubled party girl, on All My Children. She played the part for twelve years and left the show in 2002.

After successfully auditioning on-air Ripa began co-hosting Live! with Regis and Kelly, bringing a new lease of life to the show. In 2003 she ventured into primetime with Hope & Faith. Ripa is married to her All My Children co-star, Mark Consuelos. They share three children.
