Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Katee Sackhoff (of Battlestar Galactica fame) would be joining the new season of The Flash.
According to reports, Sackhoff would be playing the role of Amunet Black a.k.a. Blacksmith and would feature in episode 4 of the upcoming season, titled “Girls Night Out.” The episode would be a mini-crossover with Arrow, meaning only a certain characters of the other show would appear. In this case, it would be Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett-Rickards).
Blacksmith was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan van Sciver in 2001 and made her debut in The Flash: Iron Heights #1. On the show, her backstory will remain the same: the leader of a black market catering to the needs of supervillains. EW elaborates:
“Amunet uses every means possible, including the long list of metahumans under her thumb, to ensure her illicit enterprise thrives.”
It is yet unclear whether she will have the same powers as she did in the comics, where she had the ability to mold metal and even merge it into her body. But it seems likely that she will be a part of the Rogues Gallery to wreck havoc on Central City.
The fourth season of The Flash returns on CW on Oct. 10. It stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, among others.
