The American actress, dancer, singer, and author, Janet Leigh’s career spanned over five decades, and she is famously known for her iconic role of Marion Crane in the thriller, Psycho. She is also got fame for her highly publicized marriage with the actor Tony Curtis.
She was born on 6th July in 1927 in Merced, California. She was of Scots-Irish and German descent. In her childhood, she used to sing in the local church choir. She enrolled at the College of the Pacific in 1942, and she studied music and psychology there.

She was discovered by the actress, Sierra Nevada, at 18 at the Sugar Bowl. There, Nevada saw her photograph and showed it to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer talent agent Lew Wasserman. With the help of Nevada, Leigh got a chance for a screen test with M.G.M.

Before stepping into the film industry, and she became a guest star on the radio dramatic anthology, The Cresta Blanca Hollywood Players. She made her acting debut in 1947 with the Civil War film, The Romance of Rosy Ridge.

That year, she also was cast in the drama, If Winter Comes. She had a significant role in Little Women. In 1951, the actress acted in the musical, Two Tickets to Broadway, a huge box office hit.

In 1954, she appeared as Robert Wagner’s love interest in the adventure film Prince Valiant. That year, she signed a 4-picture contract with Universal and appeared in the musical comedy, My Sister Eileen in 1955.

She got very famous for being cast in the iconic role of the ambiguous murder victim in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. This film became her career-defining film.

In 1963, she took a hiatus from acting but returned in 1966 with Kid Rodelo. In 1972, she starred in the science-fiction movie, Night of the Lepus. In 1975, she made her stage debut with the Broadway production of Murder Among Friends.

In 2005, her last film was credit in the teen film, Bad Girls from Valley High. From 1945-1949, she was married to Stanley Reames. In 1951, she married the actor, Tony Curtis but got divorced in 1962. That year, she got married to Robert Brandt. On 3rd October in 2004, she died after battling with vasculitis at the age of 77.
