She went on an Australian tour of ‘Move Over, Mrs. Markham’ in the late 1970s. In 1979, she starred in ‘Night and Day’ at the ‘Perth Playhouse.’

In her personal life, Blackman married Bill Sankey in 1948. However, after almost a decade of struggling through their marriage, the couple parted ways in 1956. She got married again in 1961, to British actor Maurice Kaufmann. The couple adopted two children, Lottie and Barnaby.
