Christian Bale star of The Dark Knight trilogy, recently revealed that he was keen on joining the Star Wars universe, and confirmed that he was in discussions to play a role in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“Yes, [it was] very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun from many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

Bale stated that he’s a huge fan of the franchise, saying,

“Star Wars really interests me. I’ve still got the Millennium Falcon, I’ve got the AT-AT. My daughter, her first love was Darth Vader. She absolutely adored Darth Maul. [She] stood near him at Disneyland and he growled, and he’s got those teeth, and he stayed in character, really wonderful performance, and she was teeny, and I thought, ‘This is gonna scare the crap out of her, this is such a bad idea.’ And then she stopped, and she said, ‘Daddy, I’m in love.’”

There has been no confirmation as to what role Bale will be playing in the upcoming movie nor was there a reason why he didn’t end up working on the film in the first place. There were, however, rumors circulating that he was supposed to play the role of Han’s mentor. Woody Harrelson ultimately went on to play that role.

The script is written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Joonas Suotamo stars as Chewbacca, Donald Glover plays Lando Calrissian. The film will also star Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. This movie will release on May 25.
