As much as we all love the ideas and creativity of George Lucas, the man who created Star Wars, today he is not involved with the movie. Kathleen Kennedy is the one who manages the creation of Star Wars. She is the head of the company that bears George Lucas’ name. Kennedy says that Lucas does occasionally shares his thoughts and secrets on the Jedi. But he prefers to play the role of a fan now.

“I think he’s starting to settle into this and just be a fan. It’s taken a while. It’s hard to let go, after 40 years. That’s a lot of expectation and things he thought a lot about. Suddenly that next generation, that whole thematic idea he came up with, is in process,” Kennedy said.

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, George was to be the creative consultant. The new trilogy was to be based on his ideas. But eventually very little of Lucas’ ideas and concept were drawn into the sketch of Star Wars.

Kathleen Kennedy tells the Entertainment Weekly that Lucas has found it “hard to let go of Star Wars.” Lucas feels like a proud father as he watches the success and continuation of the film. Given the fact the fact that he was involved with Star Wars almost every single day, it would be a void in his life. The movies are going off in directions that Lucas may have never intended and which is understandably frustrating.

But Lucas had at one point accepted the fact that he would have to give up the ownership he had over Star Wars. He has remained quiet in public conferences and did not openly reveal his feelings about the same. His comments about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” were positive and he called it one that fans would love. Later, he revealed that he wasn’t too happy that they decided to go with a movie which was so similar to the trilogy.

While George Lucas may not still be the brains of Star Wars anymore, he will always be appreciated for the creation and development of the world’s favorite movie.
