The star of “How I Met Your Mother,” Neil Patrick Harris took to Twitter in December 2015 and said that he is all game to play the role of the Riddler opposite Ben Affleck in the DCEU. The Riddler was first played by Frank Gorshin in the 1960s and by Jim Carrey in 1995’s “Batman Forever.” Fans have since then have tried to campaign for actors like Robin Williams, David Tennant and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Fans now eagerly wait to see the actor transform from a sarcastic comedian to the villain the battles the Dark Knight. They have started a petition that calls for Warner Bros. to hire Harris.

There are so far 105 supporters for this petition on “Change.Org petition”. Their pitch is given below:

“Neil Patrick Harris is the number one choice from fans around the world to play The Riddler in the DCEU. His quirkiness and squeaky [sic] voice are perfect, his appearance is almost dead accurate to the comics, and he himself said that he would love to play this role. Let’s get this ball rolling and make this happen DC fans!!!”

If the DC filmmakers wish to continue the legacy of Gorshin and Carrey, then there is no doubt that Harris is the man to cast. But if they do plan to keep a more serious plot and give a dark character role for Nygma, then Harris is not exactly a great fit.

But it has not yet been confirmed if Warner Bros. plans to have the Riddler in the DCEU. There was a rumor that DC had plans to cast Jesse Eisenberg in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” as the Riddler. Fans keep asking if the studio intends to bring the villain back somewhere in the storyline.

Well, they will have just to wait and see what the director, Matt Reeves has in store.  There is no doubt that the Riddler will be an enjoyable villain to watch in DCEU.
