The principal shooting of Avengers: Infinity War got over this summer and the film is on its way to become the biggest superhero ensemble film in history, however, seems like IMDB has leaked about another character who is likely to feature in the battle against Thanos. As of now Avengers 4 is being shot in Atlanta, however, what is the need for a further addition to the IMDB’s Infinity War page? It looked doubtful initially as users have the option to edit this popular website, however, now rumors are gaining momentum as the news has been shared on the official IMDB Twitter account.
According to IMDB, Spider-Man: Homecoming actress Tiffany Espensen is going to join the team in Avengers: Infinity War. She had a minor role of Cindy in Homecoming. She was a part of the decathlon team at Peter Parker’s Midtown School of Science and Technology. Thus, her inclusion seems to be trivial, however, it has fired the speculation about a renowned female superhero taking part in one of the battles in movie history.
Those who are familiar with Spider-Man comics might be able to recall Cindy and her importance. She featured first in Amazing Spider-Man #1 as a classmate of Peter Parker. What makes Cindy Moon significant is the fact that she also received a bite from the same radioactive spider on the same day that Peter Parker got bitten. Thus, she also had powers similar to the Spidey. It is just that she didn’t know how to use or control those powers and required training for that.
Later Spider-Man’s former ally and mentor Ezekiel Sims trained Cindy for 6 years and guided her to take charge of her powers. After the training, he kept Cindy locked up in a private facility to protect her as well as other spiders from Morlun. She was in the confinement for a decade before Peter found out about her during the Original Sin crossover. Thereafter she was known as Silk and became an undercover operative of S.H.I.E.L.D.
While this doesn’t guarantee Silk’s appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, however, the possibility is real right now. While Cindy played only a minor part in Spider-Man: Homecoming, she might appear in the Infinity War at a crucial juncture to bail Spider-Man out of a corner. It is also possible that Silk won’t be seen in the film and Cindy might just play a minor role to get the story going. Russo Brothers might also be aiming at introducing Cindy as a build up to bring Silk on screen after Avengers 4. As of now, it is all a guessing game.
