With Battlefront 2 approaching towards its release date as well as Star Wars Episode 8, the last Jedi, more new information is being poured out for both the Star Wars sagas. Recently, some of the hero abilities in the Battlefront 2 were leaked online, which gave us a fascinating look into a force ability Luke may have acquired after the “Return of the Jedi.”
Since Battlefront 2 will be a canon and will detail the events following Return Of The Jedi but from the Emperor’s point of view and will feature Luke throughout the story. The new ability will be considered as canon. This will give us an indication on how much Luke’s powers have increased after defeating his father and the Emperor above Endor. Also in the in the game, the abilities of the other characters are based on their Canon displays such as Kylo Ren using is signature move known as “Force Freeze” and Vader using his famous “Force Choke.
Similarly, we will see Luke using his signature movies like Force Rush and Force Push, but it is this 3rd ability that is extremely impressive, and it points to his progression as a Jedi Knight. This mysterious 3rd ability is called “Force Repulse.”
The Force Repulse is actually a power we have seen several times in Legends continuity by Darksiders like Star Killer and Darth Malgus. The user of the Force Repulse gather their force energy inwards and the push it outwards as quickly and violently as possible. The Attack was meant to create space and in some cases thrash subjects.
We have seen the Darksiders using the repulse infused with Force Lightning and other energy based attacks. These attacks are powerful enough to rip apart the enemies even destroy hard metals and other solid objects in its way.
Many light side users have also used a variation of force repulse only with the absence of energy based attacks and often using it to create a gap than actually kill their opponents. The most noted Jedi to use this ability was Mace Windu in Canon. We got to see a display similar to this description with Savage Opress using it against the droids. This ability has several variations and important differences.
This is what the description of the ability stated in the Battlefront 2 documents “Luke sends a burst of force energy off from the ground, dealing damages to all the enemies nearby.” Reading the description it is clear that Luke is using a different variation of the Force Repulse, but it is still an impressive show, and also a power we have never seen utilized before in canon.
It will be more interesting after we finally get a look at what this ability looks like in the game. This is still highly intriguing, because Luke developed this power just after the events of “Return Of The Jedi’, this gives us an idea that his powers must be quite insane at the time we find him in The Last Jedi as he has close to 30 years to practice his powers and gain a deeper understanding of the force.
With this power only being just the beginning, some fans have been speculating that we may see Luke use this version of Force Repulse in The Last Jedi since it is featured in the game. However, it is safe to take it as a sign that Luke has grown enormously in power than anything else.
It is essential to keep an eye on the Battlefront 2 since we are now aware it will detail some canon stories about Luke Skywalker. Do you think, we will see Luke practicing this new power in The Las Jedi? What other force skills Luke may have gathered over the years that he may portray in the upcoming movies?
