A lot of wrestlers take to acting once their career in the ring ends or is halted temporarily. The most iconic of them all is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. We all ultimately fall in love with our favorite wrestlers’ characters in movies. Keeping that in mind, we present to you some of the upcoming movies which are going to star our favorite wrestlers.
Eva Marie – Action #1
Action #1 is a TV film based on two comic book store employees who endeavor to steal an Oscar-winning star’s original copy of Action Comics #1, the incredibly crazy and valuable story which featured Superman’s comic book debut. Eva Marie will be featuring in this movie. Thus, she won’t be seen in the next month’s Survivor Series WWE PPV event.
Wade Barrett – Vengeance
Wade Barrett made his big screen debut in Eliminators and has been obsessed with acting after he bagged another film. Vengeance would see the British actor as the lead character. He is playing the role of John gold, who is a former soldier-converted-mercenary who discovers an evil plan while investigating his best friend’s murder.
Dave Bautista – Avengers Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is releasing on May 4, and it is being called the biggest superhero movie ever. It stars several biggies such as Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, and one of the most beloved wrestlers Dave Bautista as well as several other actors. It will usher in a mega-villain who has been hinted about since the debut of Avengers in 2012. The villain Thanos is a character played by actor Josh Brolin.
Dwayne Johnson –Black Adam
The Black Adam of DCEU is none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who has recently spoken to WB. Instead of being a part of Shazam! As planned earlier, he will now star in his own solo film which might release in 2020 or 2021, and Warner Bros. plans big for this character.
John Cena – Bumblebee Spinoff
Frankly, the latest Transformers movie was terrible. Although it earned a lot on Box-office, but, it failed to get any critical acclaim. People appear to have been bored of the typical Transformers film, and it is appreciable that the makers endeavor to do something unique with the series, such as making a solo spin-off film by introducing our beloved Autobot, Bumblebee and the fan favorite wrestler John Cena in a single film.
Shawn Michaels is a highly loved wrestler and after his recent role in comedy-drama film Resurrection of Gavin Stone is followed by a role in a Scary Movie genre superhero spoof movie titled Avengers Of Justice: Farce Wars, which will also tear into Star Wars. The film will see the Avengers of Justice and Superbat return from retirement to take on the villain Dark Jokester and Lisp Luthor. By the looks of it, the film is a spoof of Justice League, Avengers, and Star Wars, which are three most popular film franchises of today’s Hollywood.
Nathan Jones – Dark Ascension
After exiting WWE, Nathan Jones has been a part of various movies such as Conan the Barbarian and Mad Max: Fury Road. The Dark Ascension, which is a long-delayed biblical war film will be the next project featuring this towering guy. He plays a character named Goroh, who has an important role in the battle between Hell and Heaven.
Kevin Nash – Slaw
Kevin Nash has played various roles after he exited WWE. Generally, he has done cameos, such as a stripper’s role in the Magic Mike Dualogy. Now Lionsgate is coming up with the Saw series, and it is bound to get some serious spoofing from Kevin Nash’s upcoming film which is the food-themed Slaw. The film will also feature some other wrestlers such as Luke Gallows, Amber Gallows, and John Kip.
John Morrison – Minutes to Midnight
After he left WWE in 2011, John ‘Morrison’ Hennigan has had a busy film schedule, as he has been a part of various direct-to-video films and indie projects including Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, and Boone: The Bounty Hunter. Hennigan is now all set to join Billy Baldwin in the schlock fest, focusing on some friends staying at a ski-lodge who are systematically being killed by a masked murderer.
Dwayne Johnson – Rampage
Dwayne Johnson is from a rare category who happens to be one of the only WWE wrestlers who has two entries on this compilation. The Rock will star in an all-star movie Rampage which also features Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Naomi Harris and The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
