The reboot of Syfy’s Tremors is in the works.
As reported by Deadline, Shiloh Fernandez, Megan Ketch, and Emily Tremaine have been selected to play the lead roles in the upcoming TV series. These three will act alongside the original Tremors star Kevin Bacon who will reprise his role of Valentine McKee.
This Tremors reboot is written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Hannibal). The series once again features the killer Graboid worms that had nearly destroyed Perfection, Nevada 25 years ago. Now the survival hopes of this small desert town are pinned on Valentine (Bacon) as the locals believe that he is the only guy who can defeat them as he had done that in the past. The problem is that Valentine is no longer a youngster and alcoholism is one of the many other things afflicting this hero.
Fernandez will play the role of Nico Garza, who happens to be a man idling his time in Perfection. He is employed at the Graboid Waste Gobbling company owned by Earl Bassett, and he is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to split. Nico fears getting stuck in the remote town just like Valentine has been. Apart from the upcoming reboot, Fernandez has played repeat roles in Falling Water on USA and Gypsy on Netflix.
Ketch is playing Mindy Sterngood who is an attractive and clever young medico who has some vested interest in the aging Valentine who had earlier saved her from a Graboid when she was a nine-year-old child. She is a much more complex character, and as things will unfold, others will figure out that she has a lot of hidden tricks and secrets. She has been earlier seen in America Gothic on CBS, Jane the Virgin on CW and in Joachim Trier production Louder Than Bombs.
Tremaine will be playing Emily McKee, the incredibly sharp daughter of Valentine who has a bright future ahead. She visits Perfection to meet her father after her graduation is over. The trip results in disappointment as Emily realizes that Valentine is never going to change. Tremaine has earlier been seen in Freeform’s Guilt and HBO show Vinyl.
The showrunner for this series is Scribe Miller, and executive producers include Bacon, Jessica Rhoades, and David Schiff.
