Despite Justice League having failed to attract the audiences, it seems like Star Wars: The Last Jedi will save the year, closing on 2017 with a $200 Million on the opening weekend.

Lucasfilm’s latest movie hits theaters on December 15th, and as Variety reports, it will open with a bang. According to this site, the movie is on track for a $200million+ opening, which will give the movie the biggest opening weekend of the year and it will surpass Disney’s Beauty And The Beast which had a $178 million opening.

While the projection for The Last Jedi is not the best a Star Wars movie has had, the chances are that this sequel may open with more than $200 million.

BoxOffice.com had predicted a $215 million opening for The Last Jedi. Time will tell which website was closer to the real numbers and both websites agree that the movie will have a hell of an opening weekend.

If The Last Jedi rakes in more than 200 million dollars in the debut weekend, it will become the second best opening for a Star Wars movie ever, ahead of $155 million of Rogue One. Such a great opening will place this movie 4th in the highest opening weekend for movies.

If the film performs this well, it will give a boost to what was a poor box office year.
