The T-Rex makes its return in the latest teaser of Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom. While the original Jurassic Park is the best summer blockbusters, its sequels have struggled to match the quality. The Lost World had great setpieces, and it was fun seeing Jeff Goldblum promoted to the lead role. But it had lacked the freshness and energy of the original movie. Steven Spielberg admitted that he felt bored making the sequel.

Joe Johnston’s Jurassic Park III was a forgettable piece that featured a few nice effects but was lumbered with lame comedy and a paper-thin story. It took 14 years for Jurassic World to arrive. The movie gross is $1.6 billion worldwide. While the movie received positive reviews, some of the critics aimed at the mean-spirited death of a side character, Zara, and the amount of product placement.

The full trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives on Thursday. It is hard to parse a lot of story information from such a brief clip. The T-Rex proved to be the highlight of the previous adventure, where the movie wisely held her back until the finale so she can have an intense battle with the Indominus Rex.

J.A. Bayona takes over from Colin Trevorrow as the director for Jurassic Park: Fallen World, though Trevorrow co-wrote the story with Derek Connolly. The story for the movie has not been unveiled yet, but it may feature a mission to rescue dinosaurs from Isla Nublar. Jeff Goldblum will return as Ian Malcolm, but the actor has confirmed that his role is a cameo.

Jurassic World had proved there was an active fanbase for the franchise, but the mixed reception will mean that Fallen Kingdom will not match that movie’s box-office tally. Colin Trevorrow has stated his plan was to script the sequel but hand the reins over to a new director, while he moved on to Star Wars: Episode 9.
