The Strangers is widely regarded among the all-time best home invasion horror films and the talk about its sequel has been doing the rounds for several years. Finally, The Strangers 2 is readying to hit the theaters. The film is not only in production, but, it has an official title as well as a scheduled release date. Above all, the studio has now revealed the first look of the eagerly anticipated horror movie sequel, and by the way, things are shaping up, a trailer won’t take a long time to come.
Bloody Disgusting reported that The Strangers 2 is titled Strangers: Prey at Night. The film is scheduled to release on March 9, 2018. This is special as it will be the 10th anniversary of the original Film. A decade has gone by and in the horror film business, one decade is a really long gap. The Strangers had a budget of only $9 million, and it went on to make $82 million globally. Such a success often leads to a quick sequel. However, this seems to be a better late than never scenario.
Strangers: Prey at Night follows the same narrative as the first film, however, this time it features a film out on a road trip which goes wrong when they reach a deserted mobile home park. Situation compels them to stay overnight in someone else’s trailer and then there is a power outage. Being a horror film, this ensured that things kept worsening then on. The family encounters three masked psychopaths, and they are anything but well-wishers. In fact, we should say that they are more like happy go murdering kind.
The director of the original movie Bryan Bertino is not working on this project. Rather it is being directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) who is entrusted with the responsibility of bringing back Christened Dollface, The Man in the Mask and Pin-Up Girl. While Bertino had done the first draft of the film’s screenplay, it was rewritten by Ben Ketai (The Forest). The film’s cast comprises Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Bailee Madison (Once Upon A Time).
The latter can also be seen in the first photo of The Strangers 2 which was revealed. We can also see Christened Dollface comfortably lurking in the backdrop of the photograph. Madison looks anything but calm, and that’s how anyone frantically running for life would look like. However, a fence is between her and escape to safety.
