While we do not have any idea what Star Wars 10 may bring us, Rian Johnson has broken this silence about Star Wars trilogy that he is going to helm, stating that he is in very early stages of the process. It had been announced that Johnson would be getting his Star Wars trilogy and the fans are wondering what the director will do and what the story will be. While we seem to be far away from learning what this new trilogy will be all about, Rian Johnson’s enthusiasm is hard for him to contain.
At a press event for The Last Jedi in Mexico, Rian Johnson had spoken about the Star Wars trilogy and had also revealed where he is in the planning stage.
“We’re gonna have to see. I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. What makes me so excited about it, is the idea of doing a new story on the big canvas of three movies in this world. There’s just so much potential and I can’t wait to jump into it.”
The Last Jedi is not even in theaters yet and Johnson is thinking about what the new Star Wars trilogy will be about.
It had been announced that Johnson was chosen by Disney and Lucasfilm to write and direct the trilogy of movies that will be under the Star Wars brand. Johnson will team with Ram Bergman who is his long-time collaborator who after producing the Johnson helmed Looper and Brick had produced The Last Jedi with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
“He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
If evidence from the trailers is to be believed, we might see a side of Luke Skywalker that we have not imagined along with the struggle between the Force and Dark Side that might rival anything that we have seen or read.
While we do not know what corner of the Star Wars galaxy the trilogy will come from, this idea and a potential to make something very worthwhile is there and Disney and Lucasfilm back what Rian Johnson has pulled off with The Last Jedi. But, we may see how well The Last Jedi preforms critically and the box office numbers before the trilogy gets off the ground.
