The hype train for the Star Wars movie is on a roll as Lucasfilm released an intriguing image that features the titular last Jedi.
The photo from the movie released by USA Today features Luke Skywalker near a mysterious, ancient bookshelf that fans had caught a glimpse of in the first trailer released at Star Wars Celebration.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the most anticipated movies of the year and will shape up to be a great adventure for the old and new characters in this saga.
Fans have speculated the books have to do with ancient Jedi Order and the Journal of the Whills. For those who do not know, the Journal of the Whills had been referenced in George Lucas’ drafts for the Star Wars films. They were intended to be portrayed as scriptures dictated to him, as if he were telling the ancient story, but the idea had been changed.
The Whills are considered as ancient beings who had helped create and establish the cosmic Force. They have regained prominence in Star Wars canon after Disney has purchased Lucasfilm and started an “expanded universe,” that is being referenced in a young adult prequel novel for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The book, Guardians of the Whills, featured BazeMalbus and ChirrutÎmwe and they protected ancient temples on Jedha. It was written by Greg Rucka.
While fans have speculated that Luke Skywalker would embrace the Dark Side or become a Grey Jedi, which balances the Light and Dark Sides, some think the Whills may establish a new concept that blends elements of the two sides.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters on December 15.
