We are already witnessing an unprecedented hype around Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but, seems like there is no limit to this mania. Lucasfilm has now released a new image from the movie to declare that only two months are left before the film comes out. Star Wars fans worldwide had got to see the latest two and a half minute long trailer for The Last Jedi, and it was fantastic. The new trailer achieved the goal of teasing the fans who are craving for more, but, revealing almost nothing about the actual plot. Lucasfilm had released a couple of teaser videos before the actual trailer came out and now with this new image, they have turned on the countdown for the movie.
Back in September also, Lucasfilm had done the same by revealing short clips to announce 100 days to go, and the latest image is of Rey firmly holding her staff on Ahch-To and eyeing the vast ocean from a great height to declare that the highly anticipated film is now just two months away from us. Lucasfilm has an unmatched marketing expertise, and it is to their credit that this still photograph with just music playing underneath has also ramped up the buzz among the fans, many of whom are continuously clicking ‘replay’ on the trailer.
As far as the promotions for The Last Jedi are concerned, Lucasfilm is exactly doing the same things that made the promotions of The Force Awakens, so successful. They had released a theatrical preview in April which was followed by a behind-the-scenes thing in July. The latest The Last Jedi trailer came out during Monday Night Football which was once again a leaf out of the playbook for The Force Awakens. The Force Awakens campaign had a mega impact, and The Last Jedi is also generating an equally awesome response from fans. Although, it is true that Lucasfilm doesn’t need to bother this much about promotions because it is the cult of Star Wars that we are talking about.
The story begins right where the curtains were drawn on The Force Awakens, and we wonder whether the new film will reveal a dark Luke Skywalker. The new trailer has hinted about an improbable alliance between Kylo Ren and Rey. However, it is not difficult to notice that those are two different scenes merged. You never know if it actually turns out to be an alliance between Luke and Kylo. We have seen Luke appearing on both sides of the force in the promotional stuff. Mark Hamill had also stated earlier that he was shocked to know when director Rian Johnson told him what The Last Jedi has in store for Luke.
As of now, the only thing that can help us stay sane is the advice that Luke Skywalker gave in the trailers: “Breathe, just Breathe” as we endure another two months of waiting. Various countdowns have been launched by Star Wars fans. However, this one is the official two month alert coming from Lucasfilm. The best way to prepare for the upcoming space saga is to watch all the movies and enjoy the build-up to The Last Jedi. You can check out this official 2-month countdown on the Star Wars official Twitter account.
