Fresh reports indicate that Disney is aiming to get more than mere positive reviews as far as Star Wars: The Last Jedi is concerned, but, is it too much?
We have all joked about the way Star Wars: The Last Jedi will earn a great deal of money. The Box Office Pro predicts a $200 million plus opening not being unlikely for the film. However, there is one thing that everyone knew for sure and that is the fact that the film is going to make a huge amount of money.
Till recent days, the other thing that was not clear was whether critics would love the film or not. Genre movies are typically not very good on that account.
Now we have received this report from Star Wars News Net quoting the owner of Awards Circuit:
That is a very long list of award categories, including Oscars as stated in the tweet. SWNN has also noted that the key here is the name of Mark Hamill in the Lead Actor category which according to us is a huge sign. Although, Disney and Lucasfilm are shaping this film in a way that they have an incredibly awesome project on their hands.
This could also be motivated partly by the fact that Wonder Woman is also initiating an awards campaign of its own in many of the same categories, at least in the way that it has become quite normal for huge blockbusters to publicly compete for the awards.
However, as observed by websites such as The Hollywood Reporter, those who attended this weekend’s premiere of The Last Jedi had loud and joyful reactions and that includes reporters and movie critics too. Is that a gimmick by Disney and Lucasfilm? The indications are to the contrary..and it only makes the fans more eager to watch The Last Jedi in theaters this week.
