Electronic Arts (EA) closed Visceral Games, known as EA Redwood Shores and is reworking an untitled Star Wars game with EA Vancouver taking the lead. The decision to shutter the former Dead Space developer was met with criticism from consumers and professionals.

The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm, with all its assets and subsidiaries, in October 2012 and shuttered this company’s video game developer and publisher LucasArts in April 2013. But now Visceral’s closure asks a question, what games are still in development? Here’s your list:

DICE’S BATTLEFRONT SERIES

Battlefront had released in 2015 with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with the sequel, Star Wars Battlefront II. The first game was multiplayer and focused on events during the Galactic Civil War and Battlefront II delivers a tale set between events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Battlefront II takes place after the destruction of the second Death Star and follows Imperial Special Forces group (Inferno Squad), and players can take control of Imperial officer IdenVersio. EA DICE may release another Battlefront game around the same time Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters in 2019.

RESPAWN’S UNTITLED STAR WARS GAME

Development on this untitled Star Wars game began in 2016. While the details are scarce, the game is confirmed to be a third-person action-adventure title.

Since Respawn’s untitled Star Wars game may be single-player, it is possible that EA did not want 2 single-player Star Wars games in development. This may have contributed to the decision to close Visceral Games.

EA VANCOUVER’S UNTITLED STAR WARS GAME

Dead Space and Battlefield Hardline developer Visceral Games began working on the untitled Star Wars game (code-named Project Ragtag) in 2013. The game is a linear, action-adventure set after the events of A New Hope.

It is unclear if Hennig shall be involved with this project at this point, but the game will not be meeting its planned FY2019 release.

BIOWARE’S THE OLD REPUBLIC

BioWare is the studio that for creating the most revered Star Wars game of all-time: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The game was released in 2003 and gave gamers a story that rivals the movies. A sequel as then released from Obsidian Entertainment, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, and an MMORPG with the entire timeline was released in 2011, titled Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The game also took over for Star Wars Galaxies as de facto Star Wars MMO and it is supported till today. Considering that KotOR and Mass Effect senior writer, Drew Karpyshyn has returned to BioWare’s flagship Edmonton studio in 2015 to help the studio’s IP, Anthem, it is possible that they may make yet another Star Wars game.
