Being the co-creator of many Marvel characters, Stan Lee says that he wants a solo Silver Surfer movie. After seeing many of his beloved characters come to life, he says Silver Surfer is the next on his list.
The Silver Surfer, played by Doug Jones, voiced by Laurence Fishburne, made his first and only live-action appearance in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
94-year-old Marvel Comic legend was recently honored at Disney’s D23 convention. At the event, he was asked about what character he would like to see in a movie. Interestingly, he said he wishes to see the Silver Surfer grace the big screen. Lee acknowledged that the film was a bit of a disappointment to the fans but is hopeful that the Sentinel of the Spaceways will give them chance to shine.
Created by Jack Kirby, Lee was at first skeptical of bringing the surfboard-riding hero into the comic. While talking with Syfy Wire, Lee said:
“He’s the one I want to see more. He’s the most philosophical of all the characters I’ve ever worked on. And I have an idea for my cameo in that one!”
2012 was full of rumors that Marvel was to allow Fox keep Daredevil in exchange for Silver Surfer and Galactus. But nothing came out of the discussion. The rights to Daredevil were reverted to Marvel Studios. This made way for the character to get his own Netflix series
Considering the current direction of the MCU, one can understand why Marvel Studios would want to bring Silver Surfer on the screens. The character was a major part of the comic book versions of Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War.
After all the debate, fans are left to wonder if Silver Surfer will make his way back to the movies. And if so, will he get a solo movie?
