Ron Howard has revealed the title for the upcoming Han Solo movie. The director shared the title for the Star Wars standalone is Solo: A Star Wars Story. The reports had indicated that this movie might be titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was close.
The director had revealed in a short video on Twitter to thank the cast and crew that he worked with on Solo: A Star Wars Story. They are wrapping up the production, and this means the mess, the film is in the can and fans may see more than just a few ominous set photos. To reveal the title, Ron Howard had some fun and made a joke out of the secretive nature of making a Star Wars movie. Here is what he had to say in the video.
“Hi. Well, as we wrap up production I just want to take this moment to thank an incredibly talented cast and crew for all of their hard work. And to the fans out there, I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures that I’ve been sharing. Pictures that I’ve taken from the set of….can we even say the name of the movie?”
Ron Howard had been hired by Disney and Lucasfilm to direct the Han Solo movie after Phil Lord, and Chris Miller had been fired before the production was to end. Then, there needed to be a few reworks. And this had affected Lucasfilm’s marketing plans for this movie.
Solo: A Star Wars Story will release on May 25, 2018. That was the date Lucasfilm had set after to Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired over “creative differences.” These differences were very severe, as Lucasfilm preferred initial PR nightmare to just working with what they had. It seems ambitious for this studio to make that date and see as production just wrapped, but they have made no indication of plans on changing the release.
The title follows suit with the first Star Wars standalone movies, which was Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. With Solo: A Star Wars Story announcement, it seems that there is a trend for future standalone films. Now the important question; is a trailer coming out soon? It seems like a safe bet and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date as more details emerge. You can check out Ron Howard’s Twitter reveal of the title for yourself below.
