Rhona Martin was born as Rhona Howie on October 12, 1966, in Dunlop, Ayrshire, Scotland. Martin skipped the Scotland team in 1998 and won the silver medal in the European Curling Championship in the same year.
She also returned to lead her team in the Chamonix Championship but narrowly missed the medal placings. Martin won the 2000 Scottish Women’s Curling Championships and was entitled to represent Scotland at the World Curling Championships. They competed against Canada, led by Kelley Law.

Martin was appointed as the head coach of the British and Scottish curling squad in 2010 and coached the team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.
