Latest reports suggest that Darth Vader might be finally making an appearance in the Han Solo movie. Star Wars franchise is witnessing a relaunch by Lucasfilm, and so far the filmsStar Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story have achieved a lot of critical acclaims and have been great at the box-office too. Now the next film Star Wars: The Last Jedi is going to release in December, and it is also shaping up nicely to be another major success for the franchise. The speculation is also rife about the next film which is based on Han Solo, and people are wondering what it is going to be like.
The film was originally being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, but, they got fired during this summer, and Ron Howard replaced them to helm the project in its final phase. As per reports, Howard has gone on to reshoot extensively and has made changes to the narrative created by the duo that got fired. One of the noticeable changes was when he brought in Paul Bettany, and now we hear that Darth Vader might be included too.
As reported by That Hashtag Show, Darth Vader has been seen on the Han Solo movie sets. We don’t yet know who is behind that Sith Lord helmet. However, the buzz is that it is not Spencer Wilding whom we had seen in Rogue One and who had set the rumor mill going earlier this year about Vader’s appearance in the film. Since this new development has come at a time when the film’s reshoots are almost over, we feel that the inclusion of Darth Vader is something that was finalized after the departure of Lord and Miller.
The report doesn’t provide much clarity or details, but, it is now a matter of speculation as to whether Vader’s appearance was a last moment addition assuming that he is indeed appearing in the movie. Lucasfilm will surely be tempted to feature one of the most famous characters of the franchise as that would not only create a lot of excitement but, might be helpful in raking up many more dollars, just like his standout sequence did in Rogue One.
The problem, however, is the timeline which makes his appearance difficult. We know that Han and Vader didn’t come face to face with the events of Episode IV – A New Hope. Therefore, if they meet in this film, that would mean a deviation from the timeline and happenings of the original Star Wars trilogy. We must also take note that if he appears only in one scene and to meet any of the supporting characters, then his appearance might lose its appeal as it would be nothing more than a cameo for fans that wouldn’t impact the storyline.
In case Vader has been brought on for an appearance in Han Solofilm then Lucasfilm is likely to unveil his photographs or at least tease the fans with his appearance once the film’s marketing starts. Rogue One’s marketing was greatly boosted by the Vader shots and even the peculiar breathing sound of his. Although, we can understand that they had to emphasize on the Vader element to make the film more sellable as it featured a new set of characters in the leading roles.
Now that Alden Ehrenreich has taken over from Harrison Ford for the legendary Han Solo role, Vader’s appearance might not be of much importance for the film’s marketing team. In any case, going by the reports, Vader might have been included in the Han Solo film as Howard’s visualization of the movie.
