Our Favorite Marvel Character Would Return In “Avengers: Infinity War”

So we loved Avengers, and we loved Guardians of the Galaxy. And when we heard that both the teams would join hands in Avengers 4, we couldn’t keep calm. Yet, how exactly would this happen? We don’t have many clues about it yet since the fourth installment is more than a year away. Still, there have been some subtle hints. Out of the five post-credits scenes we saw in GOTG Vol. 2, only a few shed some light on the upcoming movies. But one of them contained our favorite cutie of the MCU.

In one of the post-credits scene, we get a look at a teenage Groot, who was playing video games oblivious of the complaints of Star Lord. This increased our hopes, and James Gunn now confirms that Groot would be a part of Avengers 4.

It is important to understand that the timeline of GotG is entirely different from the MCU on Earth. For instance, the post-credits scene was four years after the ending of GotG, and his appearance in Avengers 4 would again be four years hence. Why the time-leap? Gunn tried to explain:

In the same interview, though, we heard another big news. Apparently, Gunn had to fight with Marvel Studios to make sure that Adam Warlock makes an appearance. In his own words:

“I had to fight for Adam in the post-credits sequence. Because I really thought that’s where that should go. And I thought one of the main reasons to have the Sovereign in the movie was to give audiences the hint that Adam Warlock is coming. That was one of the reasons for them to exist. And I wrote that post-credits sequence in the first draft of the script. And then there were a lot of questions about whether or not we should put that in there, because people were going to expect Adam Warlock in Infinity War. So one of the things I promised, which I do all of the time on Twitter, is letting everyone know that Adam Warlock is not going to be in Avengers 3 or Avengers 4. It’s just not going to happen. Because I didn’t want people to have false expectations of what they thought was going to happen with Adam.”

Now, coming back to Groot. We saw in GotG Vol. 1 that Groot gave away his life to protect his friends. Instead of dying, he was reduced to a sapling, which grew to be baby Groot by the time of GotG Vol. 2. His adorable mannerisms made him a favorite of almost everyone.

The reason why GotG is receiving such limelight was due to its unprecedented success. Before the movie, only a handful of people were aware of the characters. Marvel took a gamble by bringing them on the big screen. They were expecting a decent ROI, but what they instead got was a huge blockbuster. This led them to make the sequel which also gathered quite a lot of money. Not only Marvel managed to make these characters known, but also loved. A huge part was the cast, which included someone like Chris Pratt. He played Peter Quill/Star Lord with such impeccable charm that people could help but fall in love with him.

The second part of the franchise, GotG vol. 2 took substantial liberties with the source material. While in the book, Peter’s father was Jason Quill (a prince of a galactic empire); in the movie, it was depicted to be Ego the living planet (portrayed by Kurt Russell).

Since we cannot get enough of Groot, let’s talk about his recent photo on the cover of Empire magazine, where he is seen tangled in the cassette tape that belonged to Star Lord. Oh, Peter would be pissed!  Vin Diesel (who voices Groot) is quite excited about future of Groot. He even wanted him to have a face-off with Hulk:

“I’m excited about Baby Groot; he’s just too fun. And in Infinity War, I have to talk to the Russo brothers and find out how this is all gonna go down. I know somewhere in the Marvel universe there is a moment when you will see Groot and Hulk have a few words. I think there’s gonna be a moment that we’re all waiting for, and whether you know it or not, you are waiting to see Groot and the Hulk get down”.

Well, that would be a match to watch.
