Chris McKay might claim experience of having introduced Dick Grayson on the cinema screen. However, it is his adaptation of Nightwing that will be absolutely peculiar.
After the claims of a fan about Nightwing being greatly similar to the Robin in The LEGO Batman film by McKay, the director himself stated that it wouldn’t be so. As per McKay, the live-action version of Dick Grayson is not going to be anything similar to what has been seen so far.
This would sound great to some fans since Dick Grayson has been portrayed differently in the film and TV arenas. Burt Ward is renowned for giving life to the character in the Batman original TV series as well as in films that followed.
However, we have seen a lot of other versions of this character appear on screen including the Brenton Thwaites adaptation in the upcoming Titans series.
Going by the other updates from McKay about Nightwing, this “wholly original” version appears to be the major target.
“It’s gonna be a f****** badass action movie with a lot of heart and emotion,” McKay stated earlier in 2017. “It’s gonna be a crazy, fun ride. Whoever gets cast as Nightwing, and any of the other actors around, are gonna go through a f****** boot camp experience because it’s gonna be a lot.”
McKay also hinted at an open casting call, earlier this week. He wants to further diversify the “fan casts” listed by fans for the character. Zack Efron, Finn Wittrock, Dacre Montgomery and even Dev Patel are the names doing the rounds for the part.
Although there is no release date listed for Nightwing film, McKay suggested that it is all set to go into production in 2018.
