Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has partnered with Jam City, a mobile games studio based in Los Angeles, and today they disclosed new information about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, and also the first teaser trailer for the upcoming game. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first game which allows its players to create their preferred character and experience how life as a Hogwarts student would have been. In the role-playing version, the players can customize their student avatar, take classes, learn magic, become friends or enemies with other students and also make key decisions which will shape their character’s storyline as they live the years at Hogwarts and grow up to become a witch or a wizard. The game is going to be released under the new Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment label called Portkey Games. It is a label exclusively devoted to creating gaming experiences based on the theme of magic and adventure as displayed by J. K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.
Before its launch in spring 2018, the game will be unveiled at the upcoming event A Celebration of Harry Potter, to be held at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida from January 26-28. The attendees will get an opportunity to peek behind the scenes courtesy two panels to be hosted by the team from Jam City and also visit Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery booth to get a chance to receive exclusive swag, play the game, meet the game team, and to enjoy other magical surprises. We can’t wait to give fans a first look at the game at A Celebration of Harry Potter, and this spring players will be able to explore Hogwarts fully in their journey toward becoming a witch or wizard.”
The game’s timeline is based in the period between Harry Potter’s birth and the time he got admitted to Hogwarts, at a time when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley used to study. The avatar personalization option lets you constantly upgrade your avatar as you go along gaining new expertise and mastering magical skills, and you are also allowed to choose your own pet. You will be put into one of the four houses before spending your time at Hogwarts, attend magic classes and indulge in activities such as Potions and Transfiguration. Developing your skills would be beneficial when you solve mysteries and undertake adventures. Alongside improving their skills, the players also unlock new places, spells, and magical powers.
The game has large plot arcs as well as smaller incidents such as relationship missions. The game has a new encounter system where the decisions related to the actions and story, made by a player make an impact on their quests, and on how the opinion and interaction of other characters would be with them. These options will give Harry Potter fans the chance to create the legend of the wizard or the witch that they wanted to be.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has been developed by Jam City and licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.  The game is going to be released by Portkey Games, the new label exclusively dealing with the games based on the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The game will release this spring on App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App Store.
