We have received a new update about a new film based on Batman’s arch enemy ‘Joker’ being in the works. The new under development Warner Bros. film will dwell on the origin and journey that made him such a cold-hearted merciless criminal. While we saw Jared Leto as the Joker in ‘Suicide Squad,’ the new report indicates that it will be a new and younger actor who will play the role in the upcoming film.
The plan is not to rewrite the role because Leto will still be playing Joker in ‘Suicide Squad 2’ as well as ‘Gotham City Sirens.’
‘The Hangover’ fame director Todd Phillips will direct the new film which is seen as a strategy to widen the DC Universe horizon and further explore the Batman franchise. The film will be produced under a new Warner Bros. banner which is unnamed as of now, but, we won’t be surprised if we see the same character being played by different actors across films without the film being referred to as a part of the “DC Cinematic Universe.”
Over the years, a lot of actors have portrayed the Joker on screen, and the list includes Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, and Heath Ledger. Mark Hamill was also highly appreciated for his voice over of the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series.
The writing honors for the film will be shared by Phillips and Scott Silver who has already written a film based on a Boston Marathon bombing survivor. The most surprising part of this new development is the announcement of Martin Scorsese as the co-producer. As of now, there is no further information provided on the stage of production or potential release timeline.
As updated earlier, the next appearance of The Joker will be in the sequel ‘Suicide Squad 2’.

Just put together a motley bunch of the planet’s deadliest, foulest and long imprisoned Super villains, give them the most powerful weapons available officially and then put them into a battle with a mysterious and incomprehensible enemy. That’s exactly what Amanda Waller had in mind when she created this group of disgusting, horrible and inhumane bunch of people who she thought will do her bidding as they had nothing to lose and no other option to consider. What remains to be seen is, how they will respond to the realization that they were doomed to fail and perish right from the outset. Will they stick together willing to take on death in their attempt or will each one of them fend for himself?
