Marina Sirtis once stated that she was sexually molested by her babysitter’s teenage son when she was three years old. She suffered from an eating disorder that emerged from the trauma of the assault. Sirtis took the help of therapy after suffering from the illness for 20 years. Then, she became able to manage the trauma and learn to eat healthily again.
She was born on 29th March in 1955 in Hackney, London, the United Kingdom, England. Her parents raised her in Harringay. Her parents are Despina and John Sirtis. While in secondary school, she secretly gave an audition for drama school and was accepted to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

At the age of 21, she completed her graduation. Then, she joined the Connaught Theatre and appeared in the productions like What the Butler Saw and Ophelia in Hamlet. She made her on-screen debut in 1977 with the television series, Raffles as Faustina.

She also was cast in the television film, The Thief of Baghdad in 1978. She also played the role of Lucrezia in the series, The Return of Sherlock Holmes in 1986. In 1987, the director selected her for playing the role of Counselor Deanna Troi.

She was attached to the series till 1994. Her role developed from a more passive therapist to a more rigid Starfleet officer as the series ran. She has reprised her role in the other Star Trek series, including Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek Continues, Star Trek: Picard, etc.

She appeared in other television series as well, and they are Titans, Scandal, Make It or Break It, Green Street 2, Without a Trace, The Closer, Holby City, and so on. She appeared in her debut film in 1983 in The Wicked Lady.

She also reprised her Star Trek series role as Counselor Deanne Troi several Star Trek films like Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: Nemesis, Star Trek: First Contact, etc. In 2004, she played the role of Shereen in the film, Crash.

The year 2014 saw her performance in the movie Finders Keepers as Janine. In 2020, she appeared as H.A.V.E.N. in the movie Max Winslow and the House of Secrets. In 1992, she married the actor Michael Lamper, and in 2019, Lamper died in his sleep. She has won the Bonehead Award, Science Fiction Genre Award, Award of Merit, etc.
