Carter is popularly known as the star of the American live-action television series Wonder Woman, in the role of Diana Prince. Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Juanita and Colby Carter.

During the high school, Carter performed in a band called Just Us, consisting of a marimba, conga drums, an acoustic guitar, and a stand-up bass played by another girl. When she was 16 when she joined another band called The Relatives. Actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer. The group gave the first performance at the Sahara Hotel.

Carter attended Arizona State University. She was voted as the “Most Talented” when she left to make a career in music. In 1970, Carter auditioned and then sang on tour with The Garfin Gathering, and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. In 1972, Carter had to pursue her acting career decision to leave the Garfin Gathering and return to Arizona.

After getting training from New York acting schools, her first acting stint was in the show Nakia in 1974 police drama season episode entitled “Roots of Anger”. She soon began making appearances on other television shows like Starsky and Hutch and Cos.

Lynda earned, as one of the honorees in the company’s 50th-anniversary publication Fifty Who Made DC Great in 1985. Carter is entitled with, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs, California, Walk of Stars, in 2014. Carter married Ron Samuels in 1977 but after 5 years the couple got divorced. In the year 1984, Carter got married to Robert A. Altman.
