Fathom Events has now announced the partnership with Jim Henson Company and Sony Pictures and is bringing Labyrinth back to the silver screen in a 3-day event. Although this film had debuted at number 8 upon the release in 1986, Labyrinth became a fan-favorite. The film stars musician, David Bowie, and Jennifer Connelly in one of her earliest roles.
The special screenings will be on Sunday, April 29th, with two times to see Labyrinth- 2 pm and then 7pm. The remaining showings will be at 7 pm during that week. As with the Fathom Events screenings, the film will also come with a few bonus features. Introductions by Jim Henson and Jennifer Connelly’s son, Brian Henson may start off this feature and an excerpt from the Jim Henson series, The Storyteller. Brian Henson will talk about the Soldier of Death in the series and will also discuss special effects.
Tickets will be on sale on Monday, February 26th. In a recent statement, Fathom Events’ vice president, Tom Lucas said:
“Labyrinth is one of the most frequently requested titles and has an enormous fan base. It’s a film with great appeal to a huge audience, and also a cinematic experience that can be enjoyed over and over, always revealing more surprises. We couldn’t be happier to share it with moviegoers again.”
David Bowie said that he was shocked at how many people came up and had recognized him. Jennifer Connelly said the same thing. She also added that girls came up to her to say that they know her as Sarah. A 4K Blu-ray edition had been released in 2016 for celebrating the 30th anniversary.
Ahead of the 3-day screenings of Labyrinth, Fathom Events is also screening The Dark Crystal for a 3-day event. The 4K transfer will be shown on the silver screen with bonus content.
