The upcoming Martin Scorsese directed, solo Joker film that will bring to light his formative years might have been starring a different actor in Joker’s role, but, that in no way signifies the end of Jared Leto’s appearances as the iconic Clown crime master.
The initial report about the upcoming film also has a statement about Leto continuing to feature in the character that he played in Suicide Squad. He will play the Joker in Suicide Squad sequel as well as the film Gotham City Sirens directed by David Ayer and featuring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Earlier in June, Leto refused to either affirm or deny his appearance in Gotham City Sirens with his Suicide Squad co-star. He only stated, “There are a lot of moving parts for that stuff, and we’ll see what happens next.”
His role was only of a fleeting nature in Suicide Squad rather than being that of the main villain as the fans had anticipated. A few months after the film’s release, Ayer confessed that he wished he had cast Joker as the bad guy in the film. “Wish I had a time machine,” he said. “I’d make Joker the main villain and engineer and engineer a more grounded story.”
The director of the Suicide Squad sequel hasn’t been selected yet although it is scheduled to enter the production stage by the middle of next year. Gotham City Sirens which is based on a comics of the same title will feature the trio of Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy.
