The Legion of Super-Heroes character Brainiac 5 has been unveiled in a new, extended midseason premiere trailer for Supergirl, titled “Legion of Superheroes.”
In this episode, Supergirl is still recuperating when Brainiac 5 is first seen looking forward to helping her.
“I don’t want to tease too much,” Supergirl star Melissa Benoist had recently said during a press visit to the set of the show. “But the fact that the Legion is coming to the show has such a hold in the comic book world, especially with Superman, Martian Manhunter, specifically. That’s really exciting for us.”
Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is currently grappling with the injuries inflicted on her by Reign (Odette Annable). She is in a dreamy state, and unreachable. That’s when Mon-El (Chris Wood) hires a member of the Legion, Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath) to help revive her.
At the same time, Reign is unleashing mayhem on the city, and the DEO joins hands with the Legion of Superheroes to halt her destruction. The episode written by Derek Simon and Eric Carrasco has been directed by Jesse Warn.
In the world of DC Comics, Supergirl went in future to the 31st century to assist the Legion of Superheroes in a battle. That’s when Brainiac 5 and Supergirl became more than just colleagues, and the producers of Supergirl suggest that such a scenario is not ruled out on the show.
Brainiac 5 has a convoluted history linking him with his predecessor Brainiac, who is a Superman villain, set to appear on the Syfy Superman prequel show Krypton.
Supergirl generally airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The series returns after the midseason break on January 15.
