One month before Carrie Fisher passed away, she released a memoir of her time and memory during the filming of the Star Wars movie. “The Princess Diarist” was about the diaries she kept during the production and it was a detail about her affair with Harrison Ford.
The Han Solo actor broke has now broken his silence. In Carrie’s book, she mentions that the relationship happened while Ford was married with two children.
Ford was asked about the same in an interview with GQ and was very private with his answers:
“It was strange. For me.”
Did you have any advance warning?
“Um, to a degree. Yes.”
And what did you think?
“Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know. You know, with Carrie’s untimely passing, I don’t really feel that it’s a subject that I want to discuss.”
Can I ask you whether you’d prefer that it hadn’t been written?
“Yes. You can ask me.”
Do you want to answer?
“No.”
Can I ask you whether you read it?
“No. I didn’t.”
Fisher had opened up about her affair when the book was released in November 2016. This had been a secret for more than 40 years and it was a shock to Star Wars fans who thought they knew almost everything about the movie and its cast.
The late actor gave a few interviews on the same before she passed away. The fact that he addressed this sensitive topic is surprising.
Fisher and Ford played the star-crossed couple for 4 Star Wars movies which then gave them a happy ending in Return of the Jedi but then it was revealed that it was not meant to be in The Force Awakens.
Their chemistry remains strong on screen, and this gives fans a last chance to see Han Solo and Leia Organa in the relationship that helped define the Star Wars saga.
