Toho has released the teaser for its first ever full-length Godzilla animation film, ‘Godzilla: Monster Planet.’
While it is a tad disappointing that the trailer doesn’t have either English translation or subtitles, its high-quality animation and the classic Godzilla scream features in it. Also, Godzilla looks mightier and more frightening in its animated version than ever seen before.
The plot for Godzilla: Monster Planet is:
At the very end of the 20th Century, humans come face to face with giant living creatures called ‘Kaiju’s’ as well as the ultimate monster of them all: Godzilla. Over a period of fifty years, the humans try to battle the Kaiju’s, but, after suffering repeated losses, they are left with no option but to abandon the planet in the year 2048. However, only a select bunch chosen by A.I. is allowed to travel on the emigrant spaceship ‘Aratrum’ and travel to ‘Tau Cetus e’, a planet located 11.9 light years away. After a journey of 20 years, they reach this new planet and find out that the planet’s environment was unsuitable for human survival. A young man on this trip was Haruo who had seen his parents being killed by Godzilla, and all he wanted was to exact revenge by killing Godzilla.
Over a period as the survivability becomes a question, the shipmates led by Haruo once again traverse the galactic space to return to Earth. To their astonishment, they find that 20 thousand years had gone by on Earth which was now ruled by Godzilla. Whether the humans wrestle back the control of the planet and what all will have to be faced by Haruo are the questions that this film will answer.
Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita directed Godzilla: Monster Planet will see the US release on Netflix in November.
