The time has come for a crossover between the zombie worlds of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. The AMC series The Walking Dead has been rising steadily in terms of popularity as its eighth season is making its debut this fall. In fact, the network no longer thinks it to be adequate to have just one zombie show. In fact, earlier in 2015, they had announced plans to move forward to create another fellow series to their hit show, and then August 2015 saw the debut of Fear The Walking Dead.
Right from the time the prequel was announced, fans had been wanting to see them merge at some point in time. However, the proposal was repeatedly rejected as the producers called it too difficult to pull off. Now, it seems that things have been sorted out.
During the Walking Dead’s panel at New York Comic Con, comic creator Robert Kirkman came on stage and announced the crossover between The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. There are no details about the crossover, and all we know is that it will happen in the next one year. This is what Kirkman said:
“There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name. This is a huge event in the world of The Walking Dead.”
The promo art for this crossover has been unveiled by AMC, and you can check it out here:
Since the fans of both series were keen to see this, the announcement of the crossover is a pleasant surprise for them. While the shows are not interlinked, their crossover will be a fantastic bonus for the fans. A lot of details are yet to come. Therefore, it might take some time for a clear picture about the crossover to emerge, however, what we do know is that it is going to happen.
It depends on AMC to figure out the extent of the merger of the two series; we are more interested in knowing about the level of the cast members. The appearance of Kim Dickens on The Walking Dead or Andrew Lincoln’s appearance on Fear The Walking Dead will be significant for the crossover.
However, if the crossover features only a supporting character from one show featuring in the other then it will not be a grand affair, though, it will still be important. We also feel that the success of this crossover might make way for much more.
Episode 14 ‘El Matadero’ of Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 will air on October 9th on AMC. The Walking Dead’s Season 8 will premiere on the same network on October 22nd.
