Emilia Clarke’s Role In Han Solo Spinoff Revealed

Despite the enormous anticipation around the spinoff based on Han Solo, Lucasfilm is keeping its mouth shut for any news. We know that it would star Chewbacca and LandoCalrissian, but nothing else was revealed.

However, recent reports suggest that Emilia Clarke (who is famous for her role in Game of Thrones) would be a part of the main cast. Michael K. Williams (whose character was cut from the final version) recently revealed to Vanity Fair that his character was supposed to be “a link between Han Solo and Emilia’s character, Kira.”

So we now know that Emilia Clarke would be playing a character named Kira. The name doesn’t come as a surprise, since in The Art of The Force Awakens book, Lawrence Kasdan has initially called the character of Rey as “Kira.”

However, there was a small wrinkle in this theory, since in Making Star Wars it was revealed that the name is spelled as “Kura,” though the pronunciation remains the same.

The reveal from Williams might come as a shock to Lucasfilm, but they are pretending to call it a minor slip. After all, they have already removed Williams’s character from the film, so there is nothing else they can do. Also, Lucasfilm doesn’t deal with leaks as harshly as Marvel does, since the slip by Woody Harrelson regarding his character went mostly unpunished.

So far, this is all we know about the Han Solo spinoff, which is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 25th, 2018.
