Director Matt Reeves has recently announced that the upcoming Batman movie shall not be a part of DCEU. The movie known as, “The Batman” will be a standalone story.

In an interview with KCRW, the director makes it evident that his take on the Caped Crusader will be a solo film.

“I have a vision for a way to do something with that character that feels like it resonates with me personally, and a perspective that can grow out into other things,” Reeves said. “When they [Warner Bros.] approached me, what they said was, ‘Look, it’s a standalone, it’s not part of the extended universe.’”

One can conclude that after Warner Bros’ announcement of developing a Joker origin movie, the Batman film may be the second project that will be set outside the DC Extended Universe.

This interview was a month ago, and way ahead of the Joker film announcement. So, there is a possibility that the Batman movie is separate from the upcoming Justice League film. Something like Wonder Woman. This means that one does not have to see every movie preceding it to understand the upcoming movie. It may not even involve many any guest-stars from the DCEU.

The director of War of the Planet of the had announced that he had scrapped the script written by Affleck and Geoff Johns.

“It’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

The script by Affleck included Deathstroke who was played by Joe Manganiello. He was the main antagonist at that point. And not everyone is sure if he will remain in the film.

Affleck will next play the role of the Batman in the upcoming Justice League movie which will hit the screens on November 17, 2017. The upcoming Batman film does not have any official release date as of now, but a 2019 release seems likely.
