When Sony first confirmed that they want to make a Solo Venom movie, with Venom being the main protagonist with no “Spider-man” in it, to be honest, it didn’t make any sense. We were all happy about the fact that Tom Hardy is going to be the Venom, but we also had our doubts about – how the hell this is going to work? How can you make Venom a hero?
Well, Sony’s Tom Rothman answered that question indirectly by confirming that Carnage will be in the movie as the main villain. Now, that’s huge, because this would be the first Live-Action portrayal of this amazing characters after several decades of its creation.
Carnage is extremely violent and disturbing character, and it would fit perfectly in the R-Rated Venom movie. At least making Venom a hero is making sense now, considered his wicked deeds in the comic book world. There are also rumors that this film is going to take its inspiration from one of the best-selling comic books series, Maximum Carnage. In that story, Venom and Spiderman join forces to take down the murderous Carnage.
Sony has also announced movies entirely focusing on the main Spiderman villains like Karavan the Hunter and Mysterio. Now, if you take a step back and look at what’s going on here, you will start to connect the dots. MCU and Sony’s Venom-verse are in the same universe as per, Sony’s Amy Pascal. Spiderman-Homecoming is going to introduce Vulture and Shocker for the first time, and Venom movie has Venom & Carnage, plus as we mentioned above Karavan and Mysterio movies are in work. Don’t you guy see? Sony is again re-instating its Sinister Six movie plan, which was shelved after the failure of “The Amazing Spiderman.”
