It’s true. The rumors about Bright 2 are truthful, and Bright 2 is certainly underway. The bad reviews bit the dust as audiences enjoyed this fantasy crime drama, and it has become the first ever Netflix original movie franchise.

The confirmation came via leaked footage from Orc casting which substantiated the rumors about Bright 2, earlier today. The original Will Smith starrer had released on Netflix, just before the Christmas holiday. It brought in substantial viewership. While some vocal critics panned the film, it made no difference to Netflix’s plans of going ahead with the sequel.

David Ayer once again comes back to write/direct Bright 2. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are likely coming back for the movie which will have Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless as producers. Bright released on Netflix on December 22, 2017, and it is among the biggest original movies ever by Netflix.

Right from the time of its release, Bright has been the #1 film in over 190 countries, and more people have watched it overseas than in the US. Therefore, it was quite obvious that Netflix would want a sequel. In fact, a proper trilogy might be in the works if the sequel gets enough viewers.

David Ayer (Suicide Squad) helmed action-thriller Bright is based in an alternate reality, and the story follows two cops from vastly different origins (Ward, a human cop (Will Smith) and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton). The duo goes on a regular night patrol which eventually changes the future of their world. They have to overcome their personal issues, and also a deluge of enemies while they try to protect a considered-forgotten relic, which if in wrong hands, could destroy their world.

Filming hasn’t yet begun for Bright 2. Therefore, the initial teaser doesn’t feature any visuals from the sequel. It only shows two Orc actors giving auditions to get a role in the franchise. The two actors rant about how they want to join Bright, a film which they both consider to be fantastic. Maybe, Orcs never reviewed the movie on Rotten Tomatoes, and that could be the reason why nobody praised the movie effusively when it released. You can check out the full teaser courtesy Netflix. It is good fun if you liked the movie. However, if you hated it, we wonder why you are still on this page? No matter what, Bright 2 is coming, and we are certainly excited about it.
