School projects are often a headache for the parents. While a few look to somehow get rid of it, some others choose to go all out in a bid to make their kid’s project the best one. Of those special others, a father has just pulled off a sensational snowspeeder from The Empire Strikes Back made out of cardboard for her daughter’s school project.

John Stoddard, the creative father, did all this for his 6-year-old daughter and uploaded his super spaceship in a series of images on Imgur. He explained how he had always imagined to pull off something extraordinary.

He stated that his daughter’s school hosts a drive-in movie event each year, “where the kids and their parents are supposed to bring a cardboard car or spaceship to sit in while they watch a movie on the last day of school.” He added that it was his brother who started this movie inspired spaceship projects. Two years ago, John’s brother made an X-Wing Fighter. This year John decided to make a Star Wars spaceship all by himself for his daughter.

The series of images on Imgur explain how John made the cardboard replica of the Star Wars spaceship. He designed the cockpit from Cuisinart box, wings from a refrigerator box, and cannons from discarded carpet tubes. The joints were secured and reinforced using a bit of duct tape and gummed paper tape.

After getting the model ready, it was time for the model to acquire its external touches. After painting the ship gray and adding a few minor details, he handed it over to his wife for the finishing touches. She added a few girly orange stripes to give it an attractive look. That wasn’t all, they gave it the typical Star Wars look by topping it off with blaster damage and some weathering.

What was he rewarded with? A smile on his daughter’s face that proved she is proud to have a dad like him. John also sets an example for all those complaining about the lack of proper tools for creating something spectacular. Just a little dedication coupled with some serious hard work is always good enough to pull off the unbelievable stuff.
