Every time I hear about the remakes of some old movies I tend to go deep into thinking whether they will be able to justify the same old zombies in today’s time or not. May be my concern is too whacky for the subject considering zombies falling in love with pretty faces is the flavor of the tinsel town. So according to media reports, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, this tastier than chocolate hunk, is going reprise the role of Jack Burton in the official remake of Big Trouble in Little China. And if reports are to be believed then the makers are a hell lot of serious to do this soon. The screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Millers are in constant touch with the 20th Century Fox to make this happen.
However, the question here is who on earth wants to see The Chocolate Rock doing the same the kind of stupidity around that was once a part of Lindsay Lohan’s growing days. But if you love a dash of Chinese action ajinomoto on your platter with some weird face monsters and Harry Potter like magic, then this could prove the latest version of your crack dose with a twist obviously. So the sequel is on the line but we wonder where the little star cast of the big trouble disappeared. We try to find out. Here we go:
1. The Eternal Sorcerer David Lo Pan with a Cunning Grin on Face
If you too were a fan of this classic poison dished out to the world in the year 1986, then you know about the charisma of the eternal sorcerer David Lo Pan who sported his signature cunning grin on his way more white face than you can picture in reality. The character of David Lo Pan was played by James Hong who was a popular a face in the Chinese film industry.
David Lo Pan in his designer robes and raging hairdos would not miss a chance to flirt with women, especially those with green eyes. In Big Trouble in Little China, all the hell is breaking loose on Lo Pan because everyone in the movie wants him to break his ancient curse. They all want to stop him wreaking havoc through his black magic. But that is not what we are here to talk about. So where is David Lo Pan now?
After 30 years when Big Trouble in Little China was premiered, James Hong is still kicking it like Hulk in Marvel’s Avenger series. He was spotted recently during the premiers of Kung Fu Panda 3, giving selfies to his die-hard fans. He is playing Mr. Ping in the movie. He was also seen talking to media during Sundance Film Festival in 2015. At 86, James Hong is still young at heart with his cool performances in movies like Balls of Fury, The Day The Earth Stood Still, and Drunk History.
2. The Drop-Dead Gorgeous Jack Burton with a Fetish for Guns
Jack Burton was played by the drop-dead gorgeous Kurt Russell who even after so many years of the movie needs no introduction whatsoever. Kurt has been a leading man in a variety of films in 80s and has carved a niche for himself in the wall of Hollywood fame. He was a hot favorite of the director John Carpenter who went on to cast him in a string of movies like Escape from New York and Escape from L.A.
He is still in the scene with some of the best performances even at this age. Quentin Tarantino adores him for skills and does not leave a chance to cast him in dark thrillers. His performance in Deathproof as Stuntman Mike and John Roth in Hateful Eight won him accolades.
He was embroiled in a controversy recently after his comments on gun policy in America. He lives in Vancouver and is happily married to Goldie Hawn.
